Like this article, I get my main idea "stealing" from Austin Kleon's. But is it legal? Aren't you being unoriginal? Is that infringement law?
Well, if it is "plagiarism", yes, that is illegal. But what is the difference with "stealing"? A bit blur here (to get a lot of insights about this topic, you can visit www.austinkleon.com and buy his book "Steal Like an Artist". It is an awesome book).
Stealing doesn't mean copy+paste things, it is about process. How someone do their things and combine it with your own idea. That's it.
If you still feel uneasy about it or feel guilty by stealing, how about we analyze for a bit world around us.
Incredible invention human ever create, something which we cannot disconnect ourselves to. It helps our life tremendously. Change how world works. Cars (I bet you think about computer or smartphone, yes, that isn't wrong either).
Do you see cars? How similar their designs and features they have? From one brand to another brand. Do each one is unique or original? Nope. They steal each others' ideas. It works, isn't it? Sellable. Legal.
So steal as much as you can. Of course, if you can be 100% original, that is the best, it is called invention. But innovation is good enough.
