3 Things You Should Avoid In Your Life

On this blog post, I will share what I have learnt recently and I think these will be valuable to others too. Just as title say, 3 things we, as humans, should avoid. Because it will be wasting your time and life. 1. Worrying Too Much. Worrying will make you feel uncomfortable. Especially, worry on "unresolveable" or "uncontrollable" problems. That's useless. When you are worried, your body will be constantly tense and make you tired faster, eventually you will get sick. It is not just make you suffered, but also cannot solve your problems. I didn't say that worry is bad. Worry occured because there is something that isn't right in our life. Take it as a sign, don't dwell on it, I think we better use our time to think of solutions for the problems than worrying, if it is "unresolveable" by yourself, ask others' help, but if that doesn't work either, just let it be. From my experience, there are a lot of problems have the...

Hard Working Misconception

On modern days, people just keep busy and busy. They work while eating, add more time on work, skip time for family, refuse friends' gathering, do not give their body refreshment, not exercising, and eventually they don't know what they are doing. Trust me, I have been there. I thought that if I work more, I will get more. I hoped that by working more, I will have a "more" better future. I think that is people usually think. That is NOT RIGHT. Why? Because you mislook something, you ignore it as if it has no value compare to money or achievements. What is it? It is HEALTHINESS, LOVE & HAPPINESS. Health is very important. Without healthy body, you cannot WORK RIGHT. Without love & happiness, same as you live like robot, life WITHOUT PURPOSE. Hard working is not all about working. It needs a lot of efforts to maintain your health, it needs energy and time to nurture friendship, you need to work out your happiness. That is HARD WORKING. Change your mi...

The Key to be An Expert or Grandmaster on Your Field

If you have read Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers, you know the answer : the 10,000 hours rule. But the problem is practice that much time only is not enough. Photo Credit :  874791 via photopin   (license) The 10,000 hours rule concept was introduced in academic circles in the early 1970s, and was popularized by Malcolm in his 2008 book. That's approximately 20 hours a week for 10 years. If you want to be a world class performer, this cannot be avoided. Every greatest man on this world got through this, no matter how talented or genius you are, you will not become the best on the world without live through vigorous training before you show yourself to the world. Even Ernest Hemingway did it, Van Gough had drawn countless drawing before making a contemporary painting we enjoy today. And maybe you already know, Michael Jordan trained himself a lot of freethrows and numerous core training everyday before he becomes a legend. But, it won't make any different, if you...

When "Doing Nothing" Actually Give You More

Doing nothing but give you more? Isn't it counter productive? Yes, if you completely do nothing in your life, but that is not what I want to write on blog post here. It is more to do with doing nothing for your healthy inner self. Photo Credit:  After 10km trail, a rest.  via  photopin   (license) We, human beings, aren't robots. Even machines need their own off times. That's the idea. You need it. It is not only normal rest, I know people's definition of rest on these days are watching tv, playing games, surfing internet, and anything that have correlation with technologies. I tried it myself recently, I turned off my handphone, I backed off from my computer, and I didn't watch tv. What did I do then? I did nothing. Breathed. Watched the best movie on the world (real life) outside of window. It is best if you can go to park and enjoy the world. Forget about your jobs, forget your to do list for a bit, do nothing. When you do it, feel your body rela...

"Just Do It"

"Just Do It". I love this Nike's trademark. Whenever I see their ad whether online or offline, it never fail to inspire me. It does clearly say what it is and straight. Do it. A lot of people not do what matter to their life. Not do their passion. Not do new business. Not do participate on competition which they actually really want. Not do the trip they longed for. Rather do it, they make excuses : "Will I be able to win?" or "I don't know where to start" or "I am too old for this" or the best is "Is there any guarantee if I do that I will be success / happy?" The answer is I don't know. The truth is nobody on this world know what will happen on future. But don't get it wrong. If it is your decision to not do it, that is okay. I support your decision. It doesn't mean you are a loser, no, you are cool. The big question is why they do not do it. The answer is procrastination and fear. And the me...

"Multitasking" vs "Singletasking"

On busy life we have nowadays. We often are confronted by number of problems, which need to be addressed at limited time. We want to solve problems as soon as possible. Our brain will process all of tasks at hand simultaneously. We unconsciously enter the state of "multitasking". Human multitasking is an apparent human ability to perform more than one task, or activity, over a short period of time. An example of multitasking is taking phone calls while typing an email and reading a book. Source : en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_multitasking . After minutes or hours working on the tasks, we feel overwhelmed and our brain's energy has been burn out, but not even one task is well completed / feel like half baked finished. It happens to everyone. Multitasking has its own disadvantages, it will wastes a lot more time on finishing one task compare to singletasking / focused working due to human's brain context switching and it gets you make more errors due ...

Keep Your Life / Work In Balance. It's Important

I have seen a lot of people sacrificed their health in order to get money. Not only that, not a few people find excuses for not able to give their time for even their own children and family. Maybe you will ask, "What is more important than working / money? I'm too busy. My time is too valuable, if I couldn't get money in exchange of my time, is it worthed?". Now, let's calm down. And discuss it for a bit (you can write a comment and we will discuss it). True, if you focus your life on something. That something will likely to grow and bigger. That works on other fields too (relationship, health, craft, anything). On my opinions, there are 3 aspects other than money / working which is important. And when you cultivate them, they will serve you and lift you to the next level. #1. Relaxing / Exercising / Eating Well (Health Management) Healthy is the most precious wealth on the world. No one will disagree about it. Can we enjoy our life if...

No "Format" Button on Our Brain

I just recall one article which I read on magazine. It is an interview with a successful fashion designer. What inspired me greatly is what he said on that interview, he described that "to be success you should make a good habit, and never learn bad habit". I couldn't be more agree to that argument. Good Habit make Good Character Excellent Character build an Excellent Job / Product Awesome Product lead to Success But how can we "Unlearn" bad habit from ourselves? Bad news is we have no FORMAT button on our brain. We can't just refresh it to new fresh start with our mind, CLICK like that. Fortunately, Good news is our brain has capability to adapt and develop its current condition through a process called "NEUROPLASTICITY". From recent research, scientists find out that our brain can produces new neural cells and new neural pathways. Of course this is not easy, in order to change bad habit, we need a lot of extra work...

"Give Up". Is It Wrong?

I watched a war movie. It's a story about China on its long long ago state, when they had war among themselves for supremacy. Well, it is history now. But I realized that "Every General has suffered lost at least once (which is recorded in history) or even more". It is not what about losing, I want to talk about. On war, sometimes a General placed on advantageous condition and had on bad condition on other time. A wise General would choose to retreat / "give up" when they are on disadvantage situation. That's the big idea. Let's say General A had 1000 soldiers are attacked by 10.000 strong army. If you become General A what will you do? If you "give up" on this battlefield, you will be alive and maybe get a good opportunity on future to beat that army. Otherwise, there's nothing if you're dying on that battlefield. Catch what I mean? I call it "Strategic Retreat". Yes, I know we are hardwired to "Not Giv...

Improving on "Messed Up"

Have you been messed up on life? Our life upside down? Nothing is working? Feel so  desperate but no good result at all. Well, you're not the only one. 10 years ago, I messed up my life. After graduate from high school, I didn't know what I want to do nor what I like. I was an Introvert type guy, I had only few friends and also almost every day played games without social activities. Even worst, I didn't go out at all, except going school of course where it's just a few metres from my home. My fault indeed. As a result, I was so ignorant. Know nothing. My biggest mistake was choosing "wrong"  university and  "inappropriate for me" major. I gotten myself to Informatics Degree which I "dislike" it now (maybe traumatized). Why? Well, just say that I am not "coding" person, I cannot see a lot of "text / code" at once to browse bug and debug it???? It's just not so me. Also I dislike how we students lifesty...
